Think of the Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2 MAX as a more generic iteration of its predecessor, with the most obvious shift being multi-platform support. Turtle Beach bundles a USB transmitter, which makes the beautiful cobalt blue headset compatible not only with Xbox Series X and Xbox One hardware, but also with PS5, PS4, PC and the docked Nintendo Switch.

This means that all platforms can now take advantage of the core features of the Stealth 700 Gen 2 MAX, such as dynamic 50mm drivers that bring real life to rendered soundscapes, the wonderful depth and clarity of online stages, and the stable performance of movies and music. Naturally, Turtle Beach’s patented “Superman Hearing” feature returns, designed to better identify the nuances of individual movements in online shooters – you might like it, but we found the mix a bit off-putting in some cases. Especially if you value clarity over cacophony in a massive firefight.

While some may find the headband a bit tight, most will likely find that this modified offering from Turtle Beach gets the job done during long gaming sessions, while the headset stays comfortable and cool. The 40-hour battery life isn’t disappointing either, and you can easily use the flip mute microphone or change the onboard EQ. All in all, if you want a versatile headset with plenty of options and sound, you should definitely consider getting the Stealth 700 Gen 2 Max – the best Turtle Beach headset you can buy right now.

  • Solid battery life
  • Comfortable for glasses wearers
  • Excellent audio and microphone accuracy
  • Next-gen compatible
  • Plastic across headband feels cheap
  • Ear cups started to hurt after long-term wear

The second generation Turtle Beach Stealth 600 is a great low-budget wireless headset that works with Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PS4, PS5 and PC. With 15 hours of battery life, comfortable to wear glasses and a well-tuned 50mm speaker, you’ll get your money’s worth. Setup is a breeze – for the Xbox version, it’s as easy as turning the headset on directly and pressing the sync button on it and my Xbox One at the same time. It instantly syncs and starts picking up my sound and game volume.

It’s definitely a good choice for gaming on a budget, as the sound quality is top notch and the microphone sensitivity is perfect for those who want to communicate without shouting. However, the headset plastic does feel a bit cheap due to the reasonable price, especially on the headband and earcups, which unfortunately do get rather uncomfortable after long gaming sessions (whether that’s my funny-shaped ears or not is unclear). Microphone monitoring is not a feature I like, as it echoes any noise I make at the end, but fortunately it can be turned off via the Turtle Beach audio hub.

In short, the Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen 2 is an excellent sequel to an affordable wireless headset. It looks great, feels great, and sounds great – a no-brainer if you want a pair of headphones that won’t break the bank before the next generation is released.

  • Great microphone accuracy
  • Might be a tight fit for some

With some major upgrades from its predecessor and only $50 more than the Stealth 600 Gen 2, the second generation Turtle Beach Stealth 700 is a strong contender for your next generation gaming headset.

The Stealth 700 Gen 2 is a design upgrade over the original headset, with a slightly more understated look (the Xbox version is no longer bright green) and a flip-up mute microphone that folds into the ear cups. The controls have also been reorganized and moved to just one ear cup. The buttons are moderately sized and spaced, but if you’re used to the Gen 1 Stealth 700, you may need some time to get used to them.

The Stealth 700 Gen 2 is more comfortable than the Stealth 600 Gen 2, which is saying something as I found the latter to fit my glasses-wearing head perfectly, but after a few hours of play, the ear cups started to pinch up. The soft memory foam pads with Aerofit cooling gel on the Stealth 700 Gen 2 are very comfortable and allow you to easily wear these headphones for hours of gaming.

These headphones sound great with large drivers that give you great all-around sound and the ability to fine-tune the audio to your liking using the audio hub. Turn on the Superman listening mode to get the upper hand in online shooters, or enable bass boost for some serious rumbling during exciting campaign missions. The Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2 is a great headset at a great price.

Buyer Guide to Choose Best Turtle Beach Headsets

Closed-back headphones guarantee high noise isolation rates, but they can be annoying for people who are not used to wearing them. They are preferable if you know you have to use them in noisy environments or if you know you won’t be wearing them for long periods of time because they can be very fatiguing.

It can be frustrating to go to a store and try on headphones or try to choose the best model online for your needs without having at least the necessary skills. But don’t worry, because on this page I’ll explain how much you need to know to recognize a quality pair of headphones from a cheap pair.

In terms of sound, they tend to emphasize low frequencies, vibrations and musical effects, usually resulting in less faithfulness to the original soundscape.

It consists of a small speaker in each of the two booths of the Bluetooth headset.

It consists of a spiral element and a cone for sound transmission, whose diameter plays an important role: the wider the width of the funnel, the better the reproduction of the sound waves, which applies above all to the tones to be transmitted at low frequencies, which require a larger surface.

In general, the diameter of the drivers of the models on the market varies from a minimum of 30 to a maximum of 50 mm, the latter only for high-end models, but ensuring a significant increase in performance.

In terms of reproduction, we recommend that you also keep in mind the data related to the sensitivity of the headset, expressed in dB, which represents the volume of the output sound.

Most Bluetooth headsets on the market have a sensitivity between 105 and 109 dB: it is recommended to never go below 100 dB to avoid affecting the mediocre sound quality, especially if the booth does not provide perfect isolation.

If you encounter the words “neodymium driver” on the packaging, you are looking at a rather modern model of headset. Neodymium resistors are by far the most used resistors because they are lighter and smaller than ferrite, the material used in headphones.

It represents the resistance encountered by the sound as it passes through the driver and indicates its clarity. The driver acts as a “filter” for the signal before it is converted into sound waves: the higher the impedance, the better the quality of the sound diffused by the speaker.

Impedance values are expressed in ohms and range from a minimum of 16 to a maximum of 280 ohms in Bluetooth headsets, in the very high range models; the recommended average impedance is about 30/35 ohms, providing satisfactory reproduction in both bass and treble.

From another point of view, this last consideration is also important: remember that the higher the impedance, the more “filtered” the sound is, which also affects the volume and reduces it. For this reason, some examples of Bluetooth headsets are equipped with additional amplifiers to balance the limiting effect of impedance.

Autonomy and power
Preferably using the wireless mode, Bluetooth headsets are powered by an integrated battery, but of course their autonomy depends on whether they are evaluated during music playback or during a call.

The newly developed batteries are made of lithium, are rechargeable and are usually charged by connecting to a computer via the USB cable included with the headset.

In general, they guarantee absolute autonomy and fast charging, but this will vary depending on the type of connection, especially in models that allow a binary option with/without cable. About these latest “hybrid” headsets.

We want to emphasize that, despite the slightly limited copy autonomy they offer, the only way to continue using them, even if the battery is depleted, is by connecting the cable, which is exciting on a practical level.

Battery charging time varies from 2 and a half hours to about 4 hours: as a rule, models with cables have a longer battery life, but require a longer charging time.

Additional functions and features
The usefulness of voice assistants on devices such as Bluetooth headsets is now well known and equally common. For example, in today’s very popular home automation environment, the connection to Alexa allows you to control your headphones by voice, both when playing music and when adjusting the volume.

Smart audio allows you to activate features such as noise cancellation, manage various connections, and also allows you to send voice commands to connected devices, such as stereos and TVs.

Most headphones on the market are equipped with integrated microphones for a variety of activities. For example, by connecting the headset to your smartphone, Bluetooth technology allows you to manage calls directly.
